I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Vancouver, BC providing counselling to individuals, couples and families for a range of issues, including grief, loss, anxiety, depression, fear, stress, trauma resolution and relationship challenges.

Typically, people seek help from a qualified and unbiased professional during transitions or challenges in work or family life, or at times of crisis due to loss or trauma. When our basic human need for social and emotional connection is met with compassionate attention, we undo aloneness that causes real pain and suffering. Depending on the current issue, some people just need a few sessions with the right support to gain a sense of understanding about the situation with renewed strength and self trust. With more complex issues around family dynamics, early wounding or a traumatic event or relationship, skillful and practical guidance is needed to restore innate capacities for healing and insight to be trusted again. Specific support in developing this kind of awareness begins with understanding how we organize thoughts, emotions and experiences in the here-and-now. With new awareness about what influences old patterns and beliefs, choices become clear that are often missed during habitual reactions based on fear or anger. From this new place, we recognize what we want. Being challenged or encouraged in a new way supports new resources to support change is already underway, to work through the past and live more fully in the present.

My approach is cognitive, body-oriented and practical. I apply knowledge of family systems, physiology and neuroscience to support and restore innate capacities for health connections, healing and growth. Recent findings in neuroscience research are confirming the basic premise of body-based therapies that the sense of self is rooted in the body and catalyzed by relationships and the environment. Mindful awareness of body experience alters brain function, mental activity, interpersonal relationships and overall well-being. With compassionate support, I offer ways to learn how to pay attention to the language of the body. By including the wisdom of the body, mind, emotions, and interpersonal relationships, people gain awareness into their full potential with new resources that become practical tools for daily use.
